WHY does favoritism matter?

What was happening that James needed to touch on this? Judaism had begun to see wealth as a sign of God's favor and poverty, sickness, and low social status as a sign of His displeasure. James is flying in the face of that: Faith in Jesus Christ and favoritism do not belong together!

This isn’t about etiquette. This isn’t about social or political correctness. This is about the credibility of faith.

Favoritism isn’t harmless. It distorts the gospel. It contradicts the heart of God.
